Sync Airtable with Google Sheets without coding

Coupler.io is a Google Sheets add-on that allows you to import your data from various sources including Airtable, Xero, Quickbooks, and more. For this, no coding skills are required. All you need to do is install the add-on and set up an importer to connect with your data source. You can find Coupler.io on the Google Workspace Marketplace or install via this direct link.

Set up an Airtable importer

An importer is an integration which connects a specific app to Google Sheets. Check out Getting started with Coupler.io to explore the details.

Since your goal is to move Airtable data to Google Sheets, you need to set up an Airtable importer. For this, open Coupler.io in the Add-ons tab of a spreadsheet, click +Add Importer and choose Airtable.

Complete the following steps to set it up:

  • Fill out the 'Title' field

Add the name of your importer.

  • Fill out the 'Shared URL' field

Insert a shared view link of your Airtable data source.

How to create an Airtable shared view

  1. Open your Airtable base and pick a table you want to export to Google Sheets.
  2. Click on the 'Share view'button on the toolbar.
  3. Click on 'Create a shareable grid view link'.
  4. Copy your private Shared View Link and insert it in the Airtable importer's corresponding field.

If you have a password-protected view, click 'Show advanced' and fill out the 'Protected view password' field.

Set up Destination

  • Fill out the 'Sheet name' field

Add the name of the sheet that will be receiving data.

Click 'Show advanced' to set up the first cell where the data range will be imported.

Set up Settings

  • Enable the 'Automatic data refresh'

Note: Keep in mind that you need to add an importer for each table to be imported. So, if your Airtable database consists of three tables, you'll need to add three Airtable importers for importing data to Google Sheets.

The SQL Console app is our first native Airtable app. It allows you query all the data in your base using SQL - all inside Airtable!

The SQL Console is available in the Airtable Marketplace (Soon!). Here is how to install the app:

  1. Open the Airtable base that you want to add the SQL Console to.
  2. Click the APPS button in the top right corner. Then click the + Add an app button.
  3. Search for the SQL Console app. You should just need to type SQL into the search bar.
  4. Click the blue Add app button and the SQL Console will be added to your base.

  2. Click Continue
  3. Start querying!

Check your email! We'll send an email to the email address associated to your Airtable account with details on how to finish setting up your Sync Inc account so you can access the Postgres database powering the SQL Console. If you didn't receive this email, first check your spam and then send us a note in Intercom.

If you have already added the SQL Console to a base or already have a Sync Inc account, we add two steps to the process to protect your security. Here is how to add the SQL Console to more bases:

  1. Enter your Airtable API key. Click the the Where do I find this? link if you need a little help finding your API key on your Airtable account page.
  2. Click the link to get an App Key from the Sync Inc console. Copy and paste the App Key and then click Continue.

Note: you can always find your App Key by clicking your account icon in the upper right corner of the console. Cdkeys fm 2021.

  1. If this base has not been added to Sync Inc, you'll be instructed to add the base to Sync Inc from the console. Click the link to add the base. If you need any help adding the base, read our quickstart guide. Once the base is added to the console, click Continue.
  2. Start querying!

The SQL Console executes your SQL statement on a Postgres database containing all the data in your base. You can execute any valid SQL statement supported by PostgreSQL.

Keep in mind, that depending on your query, a SQL statement can take several seconds to resolve.

To see how your Airtable base is represented in Postgres, click the Schema button. You'll see all the tables, columns, and data types for your base.

You can write any valid query supported by PostgreSQL.

You'll see that the SQL console support full SQL syntax highlighting and type ahead to make writing queries familiar. On that note, you can press ⌘⏎ (COMMAND + ENTER) to execute a query.

If your query contains an error, you will see the error returned from the database with some helpful hints (i.e. the location of the error).
